WELCOME TO ST JAMES COLLEGE
St James College, Bentleigh East is a Regional Catholic Boys'
College offering tuition to students from Year 7 to 10. Founded in
1970, the College caters for the needs of students living in the
surrounding parishes. When space permits, enrolment is available to
students from other suburbs. The present enrolment is 470 students.
The College embraces the charism of the De La Salle Brothers, a
Community of Religious men founded in France by St John Baptist De
La Salle for the education of the poor. The Brothers educational
works are found in over 80 countries with 20 schools in Australia,
New Zealand and Papua New Guinea being staffed by Brothers and
their Lasallian Partners.
St James College is a smaller school with a strong pastoral care
program and a close bond between students and staff. Our senior
students are given the unique opportunity of exercising a
leadership role. The Transition Program works with primary schools,
De La Salle College, Malvern, St Bede’s College, Mentone and TAFE
Colleges.
St James College is a member of the Southern Independent Schools
Association, achieving significantly in academic, cultural,
creative and sporting activities.

St James College sweeps the Pool @ MSAC
St James College relay teams won every event from Under 13 to Under 17 in total domination at the S.I.S Carnival at MSAC on Monday evening. On the back of the relay blitz, St James College won the Under 13, 14, 15 and 16 age groups, walking away with the carnival’s Boys Aggregate trophy.
St James’ depth was evidenced by the fact that we scored places in 32 of the 35 events we entered. We won 12 races, came second in 13 and third in 7.
Congratulations to all of our swimming team who have trained very hard this term and thoroughly deserve their success.
SJC Easter collection for St Vincent de Paul sets a new record!
St James College annual Easter Egg fundraiser for St Vincent de Paul saw the students collect an unprecedented 516kg worth of Easter Eggs!
St Vinnies distributed some of the eggs to the local parishes of St Peters, St Pauls, St Catherine’s,
St Finbar’s and Our Lady Assumption.
Given the large volume of chocolate collected they were also able to assist parishes of Endeavour Hills and Hampton Park, aswell as distribute some at the
Sacred Heart mission in St Kilda. The remainder was given to the St Vincent De Paul soup van which runs nightly between the Footscray and Williamstown areas.
2012 College Tours
We are now taking enrolments for YEAR 7, 2014. Come and see the staff and students at work on one of our Friday morning College Tours. Tours commence at 9am - 10.30am, bookings are essential.
Parents and their sons are invited to inspect the teaching and learning facilities at St James College. Visiting families are welcome to have a close look at the school in operation and meet with staff and students while touring the College’s facilities, including the Information Technology Centre and the multi-purpose Chapel Building.
